Volunteers are an essential part of BFWC's work. Our agency relies heavily on the generosity of volunteers for everything from preparing meals, to building maintenance, answering the crisis line, working with kids, and preparing bulk mail. Without our volunteers we could not operate.

We offer a wide range of ongoing and one–time volunteer opportunities, as well as specific tasks that vary according to the season and the program needs of the moment. Each volunteer job requires different skills and levels of commitment; some entail working directly with clients and others address important behind–the–scenes projects. You may choose to staff our children's program or our crisis line (requires 40 hours of training), or to help out at one of our homeless shelters, our administrative office, and/or special events.

It is important to first read our policies and procedures document, and after reading about the different ways you can volunteer, please complete the Volunteer Application Form (pdf) and mail or fax it to us—be sure to indicate at which location you would like to volunteer. The Volunteer Coordinator will pass the information on to the appropriate staff, who will then contact you about scheduling your service. If you are interested in a one-time or periodic group event, please send us the Group Form (pdf), completed, and a description of your project idea, including site, timing, activities, number of volunteers (no more than 7 people), and materials. Someone will then call you to discuss the possibilities. We appreciate your interest and look forward to meeting you soon!
