VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
The generosity and talents of our volunteers provide Building Futures' residents and staff with everything from meals to building maintenance, crisis line operations to our children's program, and assistance in our administrative office. Thanks to our volunteers, we are able to provide a range and depth of services to women in crisis that would not otherwise be possible.
Please download our Volunteer Application Packet to learn more about volunteering with BFWC, Complete and mail or fax the application to us—be sure to indicate at which location you would like to volunteer. If you are over age 18, we will also need a small processing fee and a signed authorization in order to obtain a background check—a prerequisite for all adult volunteers in our shelters.
If you are interested in a one-time or periodic group event, please contact us to discuss your project idea, including site, timing, activities, number of volunteers (no more than 10 people), and materials. We can be reached at volunteer@bfwc.org or 510-357-0205 x132.
We also conduct a 40-hour Domestic Violence Counselor Training two time a year. This training is mandatory for volunteers on our crisis line. Indicate on your volunteer application if you would like more information. Our trainer will contact you directly. NOTE: Our next training begins Oct. 6, 2011. Download registration information here.
Once we have received and processed your application, we will contact you to discuss your interest and availability. We appreciate your support and look forward to meeting you soon!
