Curves and Building Futures Join Forces to Help Women be Strong

San Leandro, CA (January 19, 2005) - On Thursday, January 13, Building Futures with Women and Children was the recipient of a $1,000 donation by Curves International. This is the second $1,000 donation given to Building Futures by the fitness company: Thursday's gift was a match by the parent company to the Davis Street location's June donation.

"We are delighted to have Curves' support," says Building Futures' Executive Director, Elaine de Coligny. "Curves and Building Futures have a similar purpose. Curves helps women be strong, confident, and healthy. That's what we try to do for the battered and homeless women who come to Building Futures for help."

"I like to give back to the community and am delighted that Curves International matched my gift of $1,000," says the Davis Street Curves' owner Gloria Vasconcellos.

Building Futures with Women and Children, is a San Leandro-based nonprofit organization serving homeless women and children in Alameda County. The organization, founded in 1988, operates the San Leandro Shelter, Sister Me Home Safe House, Midway Shelter, and Bessie Coleman Court.
